This workshop is aimed at experienced economics teachers who wish to explore approaches to teaching and learning with colleagues from other IB schools. Participants will share and discuss ideas and strategies as well as collaborate to create learning engagements for use in your own class. There will also be opportunities to practice and discuss the assessment of each of the components.
In essence, the workshop provides a forum for participants to reflect on the following questions:
- How can we engage students in the discipline of economics, helping them appreciate the dynamic nature of the subject and its applications to real world issues?
- How can we foster conceptual understanding that makes learning more meaningful?
- How can we facilitate inquiry in economics?
- How can we support students to develop their higher level thinking skills?
- How can we promote student achievement in external and internal assessment and the extended essay?
