What is educational belonging and how do educators leverage it to promote diversity and equity in schools? Educational belonging fosters student engagement in the learning environment. Systemic inequalities in education produce varying levels of success for students.
This workshop will help participants:
- Develop an understanding of educational belonging and how it fosters student engagement.
- Explore the intersection of self-awareness and perspective building and the role they play in building equitable schools.
- Learn varying types of diversity and how microaggressions, implicit bias, discrimination, and allyship impact equity in schools.
- Reflect on how to implement educational belonging, diversity and equity in your school context.
