RECOMMENDED FOR:
Teachers supporting this CP core component from schools that have taken the decision to apply to offer the career-related Programme (CP); new or recently appointed community engagement (CE) coordinators or advisers from IB World Schools with an existing CP offer; teachers who are interested in supporting CE in their schools and are new to CE.
This workshop will provide participants with an in-depth look at the IB mission and philosophy reflected in the CP as a programme of international education and in the context of community engagement (CE) more specifically, and introduce the function of CE in the CP core and the CP as a whole. Participants will explore the building blocks of CE, the CE learning and engagement process, and approaches to assessment in CE, and will gain an understanding of both the aims and the specific requirements of CE. The workshop will focus on practical methods to encourage achievement of the aims and learning outcomes of CE, and participants will have the opportunity to consider a range of approaches to bring CE to life in their diverse contexts with consideration of their students and wider communities, as well as of their school resources.
